RMS Makes Annual Saving of £1.6m for NHS Customers

Radiology Management Solutions (RMS) estimate that an overall annual saving of circa £1.6million has been made across the Trusts that they work with. This saving was calculated based on extending the working hours of a radiology department rather than using a rented mobile unit on site.

Instead of relying on costly mobile units to perform additional scans, RMS works with NHS Trusts to extend the opening hours of a radiology department, using existing CT and MRI equipment. RMS radiographers are all highly experienced and capable of managing a complex and varied workload, which in turn has a huge impact on reducing a Trust’s scanning waiting lists.

Clinical Director William Bailey commented “On average, a radiology department that is opened out of hours for an extra 3 hours a day will complete an additional 250 scans per month. We work with many NHS Trusts to reduce radiology waiting lists to help expedite patient care.”

To make it easier for Trusts to access their fully compliant radiology services, RMS has a framework agreement in place through the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The framework enables Trusts and other public bodies to access RMS’s radiology capacity management services easily and without lengthy procurement processes.
